Dr. Julianna Papez to join new practice as Medical Director for OB-GYN care

Intermountain Health is expanding obstetrics and gynecology services to help meet the growing needs of women and families across the region. In October, Intermountain Health will open a new OB-GYN practice in Billings.

“Opening this practice marks an important step in strengthening women’s health services in Billings. By bringing together OB-GYN, midwifery and maternal fetal medicine expertise, we are creating a connected system of care and building the capacity to serve our region for years to come,” said Lee Boyles, president of St. Vincent Regional Hospital and the Montana | Wyoming Market for Intermountain Health.

Intermountain Health is proud to welcome Julianna Papez, DO, as medical director of the new OB-GYN practice. A Billings native, Dr. Papez is excited to once again care for patients in the community where she grew up. For the past year, she has cared for patients in Cody, Wyo., and will continue serving that community as she helps lead the new Billings practice.

“It is an honor to help shape the future of women’s health in our community. We are building a program where women and families can feel supported and confident in their care, with greater access to comprehensive services through every stage of life. I am excited about what we are creating together and the difference it will make,” said Dr. Papez.

In the coming months, Intermountain Health plans to grow the practice to include 15 providers, seeing patients initially at the Downtown Women’s Health and Midwifery Clinic, with plans to offer appointments at other Intermountain Health clinics in Billings.

As it expands its women’s health services to provide women and families with access to comprehensive care, Intermountain Health remains committed to working collaboratively with Billings OBGYN Associates, a longtime partner in providing women’s health care.

Across its three hospitals, St. Vincent Regional Hospital, Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, and St. James Hospital in Butte, Intermountain Health annually delivers the most babies in the state of Montana. In 2025, Intermountain Health welcomed 2,383 babies in its hospitals across Montana. The new OB-GYN practice will help strengthen that legacy as the trusted provider for growing families. This new practice will join the current Intermountain Health Women’s Health and Midwifery providers, and Maternal Fetal Medicine and Gynecologic Oncology physicians in offering an expanded range of comprehensive OB-GYN care in Billings.
