U.S. News & World Report: Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital Best in Colorado
U.S. News & World Report has named Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital the 2026-2027 Best Hospital in Colorado in its latest edition of Best Hospitals.
Intermountain Saint Joseph Hospital also ranked as the No. 1 hospital in the Denver metro area, according to U.S. News & World Report.
For heart and vascular care, Intermountain Saint Joseph Hospital ranked No. 1 in the metro area and across Colorado.
The hospital, which celebrates its 153rd anniversary this year, was noted as high performing in 21 specialties, procedures and conditions, including geriatric care and pulmonology and lung surgery.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; only 16% of evaluated hospitals earn a Best Hospitals designation.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzes each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience.

The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
“A hospital named among the U.S. News Best Hospitals has demonstrated its commitment to high-quality care, especially in achieving successful outcomes for patients,” said Ben Harder, U.S. News’ managing editor and chief of health analysis. “A Best Hospitals recognition reflects consistent top-tier medical care to its community.”
U.S. News announced 505 Best Regional Hospitals that have demonstrated superior outcomes including Intermountain Saint Joseph Hospital’s No. 1 ranking in Colorado. Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital in Grand Junction ranked seventh in the state.
Intermountain St. Mary’s Regional Hospital was ranked fourth in Colorado for rehabilitation, and was rated high-performing in seven specialties, procedures and conditions.
Intermountain Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette was rated high-performing in seven specialties, procedures and conditions. Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge was rated high-performing in three specialties, procedures and conditions.
