Summit Bike Share & Intermountain Health Celebrate Launch of New e-Bike Station at Intermountain Park City Hospital
INTERMOUNTAIN NEWS ADVISORY
WHAT:
Summit Bike Share and Intermountain Health will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new e-bike station on Tuesday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Intermountain Park City Hospital, 900 Round Valley Drive.
The new station will host eight e-bikes as part of the Summit Bike Share system, serving hospital staff, visitors, and the greater Summit County community for the 2025 season and beyond.
“Intermountain Park City Hospital has been a title sponsor of the bike share since its inception almost 10 years ago,” said Carl Miller, director of the Summit County Transportation Department. “This new station reflects our shared commitment to health and community connection. We hope it will cement itself as a valuable resource for the community, especially for Intermountain’s patients and hospital staff.”
The event will kick off at 11 a.m. with brief remarks from Carrie Jaworski, MD, sports medicine director of Intermountain Park City Hospital, and Canice Harte, Summit County Council vice-chair, followed by a ribbon cutting.
Guests can enjoy refreshments, receive educational materials, pick up free bike swag, and sign up for a Summit Bike Share rider pass.
The trauma team from Intermountain Park City Hospital will have a table at the event to promote helmet use and general bicycle safety. Studies consistently show that helmets are a vital safety tool to reduce head injuries and prevent fatalities.
A meta-analysis published in Accident Analysis and Prevention found that helmets reduce all head injuries by 48%.
“Intermountain Health plays a crucial role in advancing public education and outreach on injury prevention,” said Miller. “Summit Bike Share supports this mission by encouraging helmet use and providing helmets to riders across the system.”
