St. Vincent Healthcare Honors Joey Traywick with June and July 2020 DAISY Awards

475x285 SVH June and July DAISY

Billings, MT - St. Vincent Healthcare is proud to announce that Joey Traywick has been recognized with both the June and July DAISY Awards.

Since the novel coronavirus first presented itself in our community, caregivers like Traywick have completely dedicated their lives to providing the utmost quality of care to each and every patient. As a registered nurse on our COVID-19 unit at St. Vincent Healthcare, Joey has taken every step to help each patient conquer the virus.

Joey was recognized by his June DAISY Award nominator for his Caring Spirit in staying by the bedside of a patient, even after his shift had ended.

“He didn't want the patient to be alone in her last moments. He stayed at the bedside with her until 2300 - 4 hours after his 12 hour shift was over,” mentioned the June DAISY Award Nominator.

Joey has developed a unique ability to connect with each patient and their families. He ensures that each patient receives the safest care possible and even takes the steps to provide updates to family members who cannot visit the patient due to visitor restrictions.

“He has gone out of his way to make my dad laugh and help him video chat with me. Joey has kept me informed on his condition everyday and takes plenty of time to answer all of my questions,” said the July DAISY Award Nominator. “My family and I have talked about this experience in length, and all of us are in agreement (including my dad) that Joey is the only reason that he survived. We all feel that Joey going above and beyond like he did, literally saved dad's life.” The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 from the autoimmune disease, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The Barnes family was awestruck by the care and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this international award to say ‘Thank you’ to nurses everywhere. The award honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care that nurses provide.

Thank you, Joey, for providing outstanding care and commitment to our patients!
