SJB Community Benefit Donation PressPage

Intermountain Healthcare recognizes the value of collaborating with community organizations to further its mission. As a part of the ongoing community benefit program, Intermountain approved $525,000 in Community Contributions to nine partners in Colorado and Montana to support health improvement programming. The funds are being given through one-time contributions to qualified non-profit and governmental partners.

The Community Contributions are about the hospitals' legacies in the communities they serve, Intermountain's commitment to community, and addressing the community health needs uncovered during our Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) in 2018 and 2021. The contributions were made in the following categories: Improve Mental Well-Being, Address the Social Determinants of Health, and Improve Access.

On July 22nd, Mark Korth, Regional President of Intermountain Healthcare, visited St. James Healthcare to present a $20,000 donation to Action, Inc. When people in Southwest Montana need help with emergency rent, weatherization, affordable housing, early childhood education, and youth empowerment, they turn to Action Inc.

Mark Korth, Intermountain Healthcare Regional President

We prioritize giving to align with community health priorities identified by community members to allow for a broader impact. Our long-time partnership and support of Action, Inc. is an extension of our mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

Mark Korth, Intermountain Healthcare Regional President

Action, Inc. serves a six-county service area where more than 11,000 people exist on incomes that place even necessities beyond reach. Another 16,000 people in the region find it difficult to meet housing and heating costs. Most alarming is the fact that one-fifth of children are at risk of hunger, homelessness, and abnormal health and development due to a lack of resources for necessities.

St. James Healthcare works very closely with Action Inc. on homelessness and substance use disorder programs. The funds provided will be used to bolster the supportive housing initiative known as BSB FUSE: Butte-Silver Bow Supportive Housing Development Project, along with nutritional programs and other services.
