St. James Healthcare and The Helmsley Charitable Trust partner to improve cardiovascular care in Southwest Montana
Butte, MT - St. James Healthcare is honored to announce the opening of the newly completed two-lab cardiac catheterization suite, thanks in large part to a $4.68 million grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The new cardiac catheterization suite will provide the communities of Southwestern Montana with improved access to high-quality cardiovascular care, resulting in better patient outcomes.
Regional cardiovascular care capacity and state-of-the-art treatment will now be available to patients in and around Silver Bow County. The construction of the new suite began in February of 2020 and will be ready to see patients later this month. The new suite will allow St. James to perform regularly scheduled procedures while keeping an additional lab open for patients who may need a procedure at a moment’s notice.
“At St. James Healthcare, we provide the highest quality of care to our patients, so they can stay and heal close to home. The new suite will allow us to fulfill that mission for our cardiovascular patients,” said Jay Doyle, St. James President. “We are extremely grateful to the Helmsley Charitable Trust for investing in rural, regional healthcare in such a transformational way.”
The Helmsley Charitable Trust recognizes that cardiovascular care often includes emergent elements, and when it comes to heart attack, time is muscle. That’s why Helmsley chose to partner with St. James Healthcare to provide cutting-edge heart care to the people of Southwest Montana.
“No matter where you live, you should have access to timely, high-quality, definitive medical care,” said Walter Panzirer, a Trustee of the Helmsley Charitable Trust. “At the Helmsley Charitable Trust, we are committed to supporting access to healthcare across rural areas of the upper Midwest. One way we do this is by working with hospitals like St. James Healthcare who are committed to providing the best care locally. This project fills the growing need for emergency cardiovascular care in the Butte area.”
