SCL Health Heart & Vascular Institute Earns National Recognition for Quality and Outcomes

The SCL Health Heart & Vascular Institute continues to earn national recognition for quality and outcomes. Most recently, Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver received top specialty care honors for cardiac care, cardiac surgery and coronary intervention. It was the only hospital in Colorado to receive recognition in all three areas and also places the hospital in an elite grouping that includes the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.

Similarly, Saint Joseph Hospital also received a three star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for quality performance in Mitral Valve Heart Surgery. Approximately 11 percent of hospitals receive the three star rating, which denotes the highest category of quality for January 2016 through December 2018.

These awards compliment other honors at SCL Health hospitals in Colorado and Montana. Most notably, the American College of Cardiology has recognized Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Saint Vincent Healthcare in Billings, and Saint Joseph Hospital with Chest Pain – MI Registry™ Performance Achievement Awards for implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.

The SCL Health Heart & Vascular Institute provides leading cardiovascular care to patients throughout Colorado, Eastern Utah and Montana. Learn more about SCL Health’s award-winning heart and vascular program in the 2018 SCL Health Heart & Vascular Institute at scl.health/2018-HVI.
