SCL Health Director of Clinical Pharmacy Named a Colorado Health Care Star

Jennifer Biltoft

SCL Health’s Jennifer Biltoft, PharmD, BCPS, System Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services, has been recognized as a Colorado Health Care Star Award Winner. Colorado Health Care Stars is a statewide health care professional award recognition program sponsored by American Sentinel University and Colorado Hospital Association. The program acknowledges industry professionals in Colorado who exceed expectations in the delivery of healthcare.

Dr. Biltoft leads the SCL Health system opioid task force and has been the driver of many key initiatives for SCL Health including safe and effective opioid prescribing and harm reduction strategies, including electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS). Dr. Biltoft also led SCL Health to be the first health system in the country to adopt smart pump-EMR interoperability, a new way to safely program intravenous (IV) infusion pumps and document infusion therapy. Her commitment to make a positive impact on the opioid crisis has positioned SCL Health to the forefront of clinical and safety initiatives, ensuring the system is well poised for future regulatory and safety advancements.

"Jen is passionate about an evidence-based model of patient care. In her role, she seeks to improve the quality of patient care by partnering with both clinical and IT leadership for safe and effective outcomes," said Leigh Scherer, Pharmacy Technician on the EPIC Willow team. "I have had the privilege of working with Jen for almost a decade and see her dedication, hard work and effectiveness not only within SCL Health, but throughout the community. Her collaborative efforts across the practice of pharmacy have secured her spot as a well-respected member in the leadership of our organization."
