Sammy Day, RN Receives August DAISY Award

SJB 475x285 DAISY Award 8262021

Butte, MT - St. James Healthcare would like to congratulate Sammy Day, RN, on the August 2021 DAISY Award for her excellent patient care. The DAISY Award Recognizes Extraordinary Nurses and is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease.

Sammy, who was part of the Medical/Surgical Unit on 5th Floor, was nominated by a patient who appreciated her kindness and compassion. As a relatively new member of the St. James family, she started in February 2021, Sammy was surprised and honored to learn of her nomination and selection of this month’s DAISY Award recipient.

“It feels really good, I am passionate about my job and patients,” said Sammy. “The recognition feels really nice. Nurses have a tough job, some days are harder than others, I think it is really nice to have patients appreciate it even when we are really busy.”

Sammy is originally from and Minnesota and is a graduate of Rasmussen University.

An excerpt from the nomination letter:

Sammy was the kindest most compassionate nurse that I had while I was in the hospital. She made my stay a little easier and she was the most honest with me and was sure I knew what was going on and what my test results were and when they came in.
