Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Reaches $1 million for Rainer Chair

Dr W Gerald Rainer

Denver, CO - The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation announced that it has reached an amazing milestone by achieving its $1 million goal in endowing the Dr. W. Gerald Rainer Chair in Cardiovascular Innovation.

Raising funds for this endowed Chair, the first ever at Saint Joseph Hospital, has been a top priority of the Foundation over the last two years and it continues that work. In the spirit and legacy of the Sisters of Charity Leavenworth, it has been a true community effort with philanthropic investment from grateful patients, community donors, hospital associates and volunteers, past and present Foundation Board members, leadership from Saint Joseph Hospital and SCL Health and corporate partners.

As a fearless pioneer in cardiac surgery, Dr. Rainer helped drive its evolution through innovation and a commitment to superior patient outcomes. Funds from the Chair will support research and innovation in cardiovascular medicine and surgery along with educating and training of cardiovascular medical professionals.

The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation is proud of this ongoing effort to honor a man with humble beginnings in Alabama who worked his full career to improve heart care and develop an entire generation of Colorado physicians.
