Rebecca Romine-Mills Receives the DAISY Award
Butte, MT - St. James Healthcare would like to congratulate Rebecca Romine-Mills, RN for receiving the March 2020 DAISY Award for her excellent patient care. The DAISY Award Recognizes Extraordinary Nurses and is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease.
Rebecca, who is part of the 3 Floor Med-Surg Unit, was nominated by a wife who’s husband had suffered a stroke. The nomination letter highlighted Rebecca’s attention to detail and how her caring spirit helped to soothe the pain of her patient. “Honestly it is shocking and amazing to be recognized by a patient and their family,” said Rebecca. “I did not realize that I had such an impact on this particular patient at the time, but if you do the best you can and care for every patient deeply you can help in more ways than you realize.”
This is Rebecca’s first nomination and the first time she has received the DAISY Award.
An excerpt from the nomination letter:
My husband of 51 years suffered a stroke. We were worried, scared and wondering what the future would hold for him and our family.
Rebecca was caring, professional, and gave us a personal touch. There was no doubt that she cared for George and wanted the best for his recovery. She gave us advice and encouragement.
Because of her, we felt confident that we could make good decisions about his recovery. Rebecca went above and beyond in her care for George.
