SCL Health Medical Group Brings First Walk-In Clinic to Laurel, MT

LAUREL, MT  –  SCL Health Medical Group has long served the community of Laurel, MT, with primary care services at its Laurel clinic. But until recently, residents of Laurel – and of its many surrounding rural communities – lacked options for walk-in or urgent care.

That changed in August, when the Medical Group opened its newest clinic: SCL Health Medical Group - Laurel Walk-In. On Tuesday, October 18, SCL Health leaders and members of the Laurel community gathered to cut the ribbon and celebrate.

Conveniently located at Canyon Creek Retail Center, near Walmart and Laurel Ford just north of I-90 at First Avenue, the clinic is open 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. 365 days a year with no appointment necessary.

“We know Montanans face gaps in care, especially in our rural communities,” said Jeff Zavala, MD, Chief Medical Officer of SCL Health Medical Group in Montana. “People and families in Laurel need to be able to access high-quality, affordable healthcare quickly and close to home.”

Staffed with two full-time providers and offering X-ray, EKG and on-site lab services, the new clinic will treat a range of conditions, including fever, flu, animal bites, sprains and injuries requiring stitches. Like all SCL Health Medical Group clinics, the new Laurel Walk-in is designed to make healthcare access seamless and convenient.

That’s important not just for Laurel, but for the surrounding communities in Yellowstone County. Rural communities often lack easy access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, and SCL Medical Group has made it a priority to close those gaps wherever possible. The new Laurel Walk-In clinic is a key component of that effort.

Just as importantly, the clinic serves as an access point for SCL Health’s network of hospitals and specialty care, which has served Montanans for more than 100 years.

“Closing these gaps in care is our mission and our promise,” said Dr. Zavala. “We’re pleased to keep delivering on it in Laurel, and we look forward to many years ahead.”
