Introducing Marcus K. Blackburn, MD
Southridge Pediatrics welcomes Dr. Marcus Blackburn, who now practices pediatrics at our clinic. Dr. Blackburn completed his medical degree and pediatrics residency at the University of Utah, where he was elected the Most Outstanding Student in Pediatrics in 2007 and Resident Physician of the Year in 2008. Dr. Blackburn has served on the Asthma Care Process Model Committee, the Pediatrics Student Advisory Committee, and volunteered with the Utah Rural Outreach Program. He has also provided free medical care in Peru and Nicaragua.
As a member of the US Army National Guard, Dr. Blackburn belonged to the Engineer Corp and served in Kuwait before joining the Medical Corp in 2006. In recent years, he has conducted physicals with the Utah Army National Guard and provided healthcare to underserved children at the South Main Resident Continuity Clinic.
Dr. Blackburn is well-versed in issues surrounding cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders, and patient use of opioids and SSRI medications. He has published research on benign essential blepharospasm.
