Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital Welcomes New Year’s Baby

The first baby born at Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital came into the world at 3:23 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Baby girl Olive Arnold was welcomed by Taylor Ferraro and Joshua Arnold of Rifle, Co. Olive weighed 7 pounds and was 19.5 inches.

Ferraro said she was scheduled to be induced Dec. 30, then rescheduled for Dec 31 and finally delivered on New Year’s Day, so the family did not anticipate having the first baby of the year.

Olive will join older sister, Iris, who is 2 ½ years old.

Intermountain Health’s five Colorado hospitals together welcomed 8,838 babies in 2024. That is an increase from 8,780 in 2023. 

According to statistics gathered by the hospital labor and delivery teams, the most popular names for baby boys included Liam, Mateo, Oliver, James, and Noah. Some of the most popular names for baby girls in 2024 were Charlotte, Olivia, Mia, Amelia, and Camila.
