Holy Rosary Healthcare - 2021 Year in Review

Miles City, MT - First of all, a huge thank you for the support Holy Rosary Healthcare has received from our community throughout 2021. Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we have seen how our friends and neighbors care for each other and show up in times of need.

At Holy Rosary, we cared for a record number of patients through our emergency department in 2021. We saw the direct impact COVID-19 had on our 25-bed hospital as we flexed our capacity to care for nearly 40 inpatients at one time. We experienced tremendous collaboration with our community partners as we mobilized and hosted vaccine clinics and drive-up testing services to ensure our community was well served.

We also made concerted efforts to ensure our most valued resources were well cared for: our caregivers. Throughout the year, we expressed our gratitude in various ways, such as providing take-home meals, gift cards to be used at local businesses, care kits, resilience activities, and a designated relaxation space. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication and care to our community, as well as to each other. They truly live our mission to reveal and foster God’s healing love by improving the health of the people and communities we serve, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

While there were many challenges in 2021, we have much to celebrate as we reflect on last year and look ahead to 2022.

Holy Rosary received full Level IV (4) trauma designation. This designation means that we have demonstrated an ability to provide advanced trauma life support prior to transferring patients needing a higher-level trauma center. We are committed to providing our injured patients with the critical care they need, including evaluation, stabilization, and diagnostic services.

Holy Rosary was recognized nationally as one of the “Best Maternity Hospitals” by US News and World Report. Holy Rosary Clinic also expanded Maternal-Fetal Medicine services in partnership with Intermountain Healthcare to support women experiencing complicated or high-risk pregnancies.

We expanded our primary care services by welcoming two family medicine physicians to our team in 2021: Dr. Lisa Yamamoto and Dr. Jeannette McIntyre. Dr. McIntyre also provides obstetrical services. Holy Rosary brought on another general surgeon, Dr. Craig Thompson, who joined Dr. Imudia Ehanire in our surgical services department.

To ensure our facility will continue providing safe, quality care to our community, we also completed several infrastructure projects at Holy Rosary last year, including:

• New helipad to support 24/7 air ambulance flights
• Newly remodeled swing bed unit, which will provide a new space for our patients who remain with us for additional therapy needs after their acute hospital stay
• Updated surgical suites
