Highest Beam on Utah County’s Tallest Building To Be Placed Thursday

The beam will be placed during a short "Topping Out" ceremony for the hospital's new Patient Tower. All Utah media are invited to get a first-hand look at the views patients' will have from the tower during a tour of structure at 8:30 a.m.

The Patient Tower is part of Utah Valley's Hospital Replacement Project which started in June 2016. A few facts about the tower are below:

More than 4,000 tons (or 8 million pounds) of steel make up the structure of the tower.
It stands at 209 feet making it the tallest building in Utah County.
The tower is supported by a slab of concrete 48 inches thick and stretches to approximately the size of a football field. This amounts to 4,530 cubic yards of concrete.
It will include 410 windows and 1,604 new doors when it's complete.
Installation of the exterior glass will begin in August and conclude when more than 113,000 square feet of glass are in place.
