Five Colorado Hospitals Recognized for Maternity Care

U.S. News and World Report released its annual ranking of the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care and five Intermountain Health hospitals in Colorado were recognized as high performing.

The annual ranking is designed to be a guide to help inform expecting families on where they can receive the best care in their area.

“It is wonderful to see this recognition of the high quality, patient-centered care that our caregivers provide for mothers and babies across so many of our Intermountain hospitals. It represents an incredible commitment of time and creativity to constantly search for and implement new ways to improve our service to our patients and our communities,” said John Tynes, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer of Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and Regional Lead for the Women and Children’s Service Line for Intermountain Health.

U.S. New and World Report determines their rankings by analyzing labor and delivery data from a host of topics including newborn complications, Caesarean-section and breastfeeding rates, along with whether a hospital meets new federal criteria for “birthing-friendly” practices.

The Colorado Intermountain maternity hospitals receiving a high-performance ranking include:

  • Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette
  • Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge
  • Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton
  • Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver
  • St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction
