Amy Rogers honored by Department of Defense

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for Amy Rogers, RN, although luck had little to do with it. The Lutheran float pool manager was a proud recipient of the Patriotic Employer Award, “For contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve force.”

The award was presented that day at Lutheran by Todd Riley, representing the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Amy was nominated for this recognition by Jon Cuzner, RN, Float Pool, to express his sincere gratitude for her support, understanding, and flexibility as he serves his country at the rank of major in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Although working full-time at Lutheran, Jon fulfills his military duties once a month as the Officer in Charge of a 20-bed unit field hospital. Earlier this summer, he spent several weeks providing combat support and training for a global medic exercise as well.

Congratulations to Amy and thank you to Jon for his service.
